Just take a look and please venture a value. Curious as to if I hit a home run, or just a base hit.

This looks fishy, the CC doesn't look quite right to me

Can you get a close up of that mintmark? In the photos it looks lopsided. Don’t know if that may be camera angle or not.

In agreement the "CC" seems cocked, left looks higher than the right, could be camera angle.

CC matches mine and many on eBay.

The CC looks way too chubby... like a snake that ate a rabbit.

I stand corrected.... pay no attention to the bigfoot behind the curtain...

In my opinion. Genuine. Very Fine. Base hit until you get into higher grades. Go to vamworld.com to check further diagnostics. Right click on your photo and open in new tab. Then click on coin to enlarge to check further diagnostics for that variety.

Thanks for all the comments. I thought the CC looked a bit odd. But I checked vamworld and other Tailbar Morgans and the CC for that year on all the Tailbars does look a bit odd, but that seems to just be the way the CC was stamped into that die.
Now - would anyone like to venture a grade and value? I'm planning on having it slabbed. I have my thoughts on grade and value, but I'd like to hear from others.

Fine details depending on what those marks are in field front of face and near CC on back. What is a Fine worth, slabbed or not?

I referenced Q. David Bowers "Grading Coins by Photographs" 2nd edition and on page 289 your coin would be in the Very Fine 20 category. Your coin is a little sharper than the 1893-S F-15 illustrated. Then you must take into consideration the marks in the fields obverse and reverse. Net grading it at Fine. Coins Magazine Fine is $145 and Very Fine is $245.

Bob - thanks for your assessment. I figured it was between a 15 and 20 so I'm right in line with your assessment. I'd like to get around $200 for it. I paid $100.

The mintmarks do appear somewhat odd, but not to the point that cannot be reasonably explained by the coin's condition. Look okay to me.

I agree - the top three TPG's won't grade this better than F15 max. Should come back F12.

    They might not grade it.
