Hit a wall with this one. Thought it might be from Bhutan or Nepal (really thought it was Nepal, but can't find a match in my Krause) - but so far, stumped. Pretty interesting coin with all the die polish lines.

The hat(?) he's wearing seems to match with other nepalese coins/medals I am seeing. I haven't found your particular coin yet.

The reverse also matches some other nepalese coins I'm seeing.

Exactly what I’ve struggled with - the reverse is clearly from Nepal...can’t find one with the matching obverse (ruler facing right.) Headdress matches Nepal as well. Maybe it’s not in my 20th century book and I need to look past 2000...

Looks like @alurid got there sooner. Thank you!

At first glance, maybe, but none of the lines goes over a device - just your run of the mill enthusiastic mint employee polishing those dies on a boring Thursday...

Thanks @paddyman98 - so, which year do we think mine is? Looking at the "reading Nepalese dates" part of my Krause, looks like it's 2058 (2001). Someone want to confirm this for me?

That's what I got as well. Apparently 2058 overlaps with part of 2002 also.

    Yup, 2001/2002.
The VS calendar system is easier than the Islamic system to deal with since VS minus 56 and a half gives you the two years across which the rest of the world is used to (2058-56.5=2001.5 so 2001/2002)
The next is Jeth (Jeshta) 22 which I guess is the date of accession. Comes around June/July...
