Does anyone else collect these? Has anyone here EARNED one? I know they are not numismatics per-se.. but since I have been going to auctions where coins are listed.. I've started other collections including these. I can't imagine anyone who legitimately received a challenge coin actually giving it up for the 5 to 25 bucks they are mostly worth... but I see just a TON of them around. Foreign-made fakes mostly I guess.. but some of the authentic ones are very neet... especially if I can get them from the original recipient.

I've gone after the ones that are from places that I.. well, am familiar with for one reason or another. It's interesting to see the diversity and imagine the stories behind some of them.

Anyone can have a challenge coin recast for a price. Foreign made fakes is a misnomer, because the legitimate market is rampant in korea, Japan and germany.

On that note, there are Commanders who give out coins more liberally than others. In fact I have three from my current command. I wouldn't be heartbroken letting one go for $25

I had also helped a buddy design on here last year that we tested on ebay just to see what it would bring, and ended up with 8 or 12 or so on it.

Yes, I have earned them and bought a few extras from my unit just for the purpose of selling on eBay. Then I started buying box loads of them from other people. Then I caught a major addiction to it and started Challenge Coin Association to find other addicts. Now I sell custom challenge coins too.

Thanks guys, I read every word in the old threads and I'm off to check out the other websites. Gonna be a rainey weekend here and that usually means coin-hunting for me ;)

    Thanks to those who serve..
