I picked this one up from @Victor_Clark (shipped same day, thanks!). It has an interesting shield pattern to it. It's also a bit of a puzzle since part of the ex is cut off. There are a few possible options when it comes to what the ex could be. PARL, PAR dot F, PARF, PAR palm branch. I feel comfortable ruling out PARL since the visible part of the last letter is quite long. So perhaps that last letter is F. If it were PAR dot F I think we'd see more of a gap between R and F (based of other examples). So maybe it's either PARF or PAR Palm Branch. I haven't seen any examples of PARF, but @maridvnvm has a FH from Arles with a similar ring around the shield boss with PARL in the ex. The last letter is a bit lower than the other 3 so maybe it's not a letter at all. It does look like it has what might be leaves coming of a palm branch about halfway down, but the 2 i've seen have the the leaves along the whole branch no half. So it could be corrosion I'm seeing. The only way to be certain is to find a die match. I also picked up another FH from Hereclea
The first one is a very interesting coin randy, I really like the large fallen rider. He stands out on the reverse. From what i recall of your other FTR fallen horsemen, the rider usually isn't as prominent. The fact that the last "letter" is lower than the PAR, and therefore probably not a letter, makes sense to me.
It could be that the L is lower than the other letters and what you see is the top bar! I don't really know. A die match seems the only real hope to be conclusive.
I've seen a few FH2 reverse with larger rider but yeah, earlier issues from Arles definitely stand out more. ' True. At least it will be easy to spot a match if one ever pops up.
