All three of these coins have a weird patina on them. I am very new at this and would appreciate any information, thanks.
@Lhill29891 I don't want to be a killjoy but environmental issues on all of them. Could have been ground finds, left in a change cup in a vehicle for a long time. Just abused coins.
It looks like the first two may have spent a little time in soil. Can't say about the third one. The outer layers are 75% copper and 25% nickel, and we have found this is an alloy prone to discoloring when exposed to low-pH soils.
Also, I know you CAN get pretty close to that first coloration from recovering a coin from the "south" end of the human digestive tract also, which originally went in the "north" end.
