This rim looks like a crack down through it. It starts at the left edge, and continues up to the start of the word "trust" As usual any help with this will be greatly appreciated.

Anybody have any theories why the early to mid-1980's were so loaded with these?

Not a railroad rim, finning. Original metal pushing up between the collar and the neck of the die. Usually caused by either overpressure, or slightly misaligned die.
