My latest E-Bay Gold and Silver acquisitions...Part 1

Greetings all,

It has been awhile since I have posted on CT and recently have bought and sold several gold and silver coins. This beautiful 2017 American Eagle One Ounce Gold Proof Coin was screaming my name and I was having a trigger-happy finger on this particular day...had to have it...there is simply something magical and thrilling when you have a new 1oz. Proof Gold Coin to add to your collection...

Puuurty ... gotta love Gold, Silver and Platinum eagles.

 

What is screams to me is lots of extra cost for nice packaging.

What do I really think? I really think it is a lot of extra money for packaging of something which is nothing more than a modern chunk of gold. If I am going to pay that sort of money then I want something with a bit of history to it. I buy modern gold as a hedge, not an investment, and certainly not for numismatic reasons. It's not really a coin anyway: it is a way for the Mint to make money out of people who feel they have to buy everything the mint produces.

 

ROFL...its just a coin...and I never said I bought it from the mint...my intent was to simply share a very nice example of a modern gold coin with the members of CT...you apparently have some deep underlying issues with the Mint...thanks for your comments though...it's nice to hear different people's responses....to me its just a nice gold coin...gotta love Numismatics....lol and as always enjoy what remains of your evening....

 

I LOVE your coin!!! I have these in a few denominations, but I never got a proof, the contrast is very eye appealing. That being said, I'd be a potential customer if they didn't have such a large premium. One way to reduce that would be to tone down the excessive packaging. It looks expensive.

 

I have plenty of complaints about the modern mint and I really don’t get what the point of injecting that in was. It’s a nice coin that you enjoy and are happy about and that’s all that matters

 

I included it because I wanted to include it...just like the individual who responded stated: "It's not really a coin anyway: it is a way for the Mint to make money out of people who feel they have to buy everything the mint produces"...I included it because it's my opinion; just like you and everyone else has their opinions too. Listen, I have some issues with the Mint too, but is getting angry about it going to solve anything?...nope. This post is about the coin...nothing else. And you are right...I bought it because I wanted to and could give one red cent what anyone else thinks about it. Love it or Hate it..but really at the end of the day...I bought it and am enjoying it as we type...but seriously...enjoy what remains of everyone's weekend.

 

FYI for those that may not know but you can get the Proofs without the packaging and packaging premium in the secondary market especially if you don't mind any random year.

 

I think you misread my post somewhat. I was saying I didn’t understand the point of him injecting his comments into your thread when you were just trying to share something you enjoy.

Thread do not belong to individuals. As soon as they are placed on a public forum they belong to everyone. The may have been started by individuals, but that is all.

 

The only reason you post is to piss people off. It's sad you have to act that way.

Nice pick up - I really like the cameo contrast of gold.

It's also unfortunate that some people strive to go out of their way to diminish someone else's nice acquisition.

Not at all. The claim I made is one I have heard repeated on several forums. This one should be no different. It is sad you have to be so defensive when you are not even attacked.

 

Well, it does say 'Devils Advocate' under your name. That leads me to believe you are very much aware of it.
