I was dinking around with my camera and this came up. I thought it looked pretty weird. First person to guess what it is wins a free bag of air and bragging rights. It is a design element from a circulating coin of the 20th century. If this is OK, I might do it again. If not, let me know and I won't.
My guess is that it is the stem of the oak leaves on the reverse of the Roosevelt dime. Cool trivia! Robin
Sure, it's OK. Trivia, brain teasers, and "just for fun" threads, have always been some of the more popular topics on CoinTalk.
Yes, that was fun. I didn't know what it was so I spent a few minutes looking at my type coins good and up close. I was up to the dimes when the winners posted
Dang, I thought this would be tough! Congratulations to Jody526, joesmom, and pcrdnadave. You are all winners! Your bag of air is on your doorstep even as I write this, and bragging rights are forever (or until next time). I was photographing a nice proof dime with a laminated planchet and saw a dragon tail.
