I found a 1957-D gold nickel. To me it looks in perfect condition. I was wondering what something like that would be worth?

    It'd be worth five cents.
Without a photo, we can't tell you much.
I'm guessing it's plated, and plating is damage.

$.05. There weren't any gold nickels struck because it was illegal for U.S. citizens to own gold. If it has been plated, it has lost its numismatic value. So I guess it's worth whatever someone will pay for it.

Maybe 4 cents worth of gold plating ?

I'd still keep it, cause it looks cool with the gold. But there's no big value.

Hmmm... that's an idea...if one was going to do that, what price would one use?

If you mention that it is plated then it's ok... If you say that it is gold then that would be a deception.
