Nope, you are wrong. Read all about it here: https://www.ngccoin.com/news/article/1115/ The applicable quote is: " NGC does not certify minor struck thrus as being mint errors"
You said the TPGs and you are completely wrong about the TPGs. If NGC doesn’t want to do it that’s their choice, the others do do it just like they do plenty of varieties that NGC won’t do. Not to mention minor is subjective anyway but sure let’s go by what the most restrictive TPG does and call it the standard for everyone
Error. Struck through. If you don't like it , return it. If you like it, keep it. If it was triple struck off center 50% and on a half dollar planchet I would say the same thing.
Well, I only wanted this one because I have a collection of blanks and planchets (thanks, Mr. Setree for my type l steelie cent), but want to display what the coin looks like when it is stamped. So, I want two of each for obverse and reverse, silver and clad). I'm gonna keep it as my first accidental discovery of a mint-issued error coin.
ANACS will attribute this on their label as long as the error fees are paid for and designation requested. I believe ICG will do the same.
Now that makes a big difference. Thanks for clarifying. Still, and aside from the above, the greater hoped-for point was that sometimes it's best to shoulder little mistakes or dislikes and learn from them. I'm certainly glad all worked out and that you decided to keep it.
This should not, and probably will not be treated as a minor stuck through by NGC, simply because it is on a coin intended for, and manufactured differently for collectors.
