Found these three in the pile and I’m thinking maybe this was the bigger score out of the batch. View attachment 743546 View attachment 743547
Some pretty pick-ups today! British Bank token 1814 for 1s 6d: British 1770 Halfpenny - an upgrade for me: 1776 "non-regal" British halfpenny:
Just started collecting coins with sailing ships on them. Not for profit...just for fun. This is a 50¢ piece from New Zealand.
Egypt - 1977 5 Piastres *Heavy die clashes on both obverse/reverse* KM 467 Mintage of 1,000,000 Iran - 1956 10 Rials KM 1177 Mintage of 6,225,000 San Marino - 1979 200 Lire KM 96 Mintage of 675,000
About 30 new arrivals this week. This one has some real nasty corrosion, but I am still glad I found it. Arrived about 30 minutes ago.
I put this up on the Exonumia newp thread too. It's darkside/World and exonumia so I figured it could go here too. 1937 France/Paris, by Vernon. A bit smaller than the usual medal I pick up, but it's so Deco I 'needed' it.
Picked up a couple of Nova Scotia Large Cents, an 1861 (posted here) & an 1864 posted on the Canadian coins thread https://www.cointalk.com/threads/post-your-new-old-canadian-coins.258054/page-70#post-3007056
I really like the obverse on this 1887 H Nicaragua 20 Cent. It reminds me of a Military victories reverse on a civil war token. The Volcanoes and sun in the triangle just drew me in.
My latest pickup for my set of Hungarian event medals for Franz Joseph I and his family: Silver Medal Commemorating the visit of Franz Joseph I to Debrecen, Hungary on September 12, 1890 PCGS SP64 Hauser 703, Wurzbach 2531 32.3mm, 12.18g This medal is unusual in that the other Hungarian visitation medals I've seen featured both Franz Joseph and Sisi together, although they are dated much earlier than this piece. Perhaps it's not surprising, as Crown Prince Rudolf died the year before in 1889, and Sisi withdrew from court and her family until her assassination in 1898. So this would have been the first year that FJI would have visited Hungary unaccompanied by the empress, despite her being known for her love of Hungary and its people. The medal features a bust of Franz Joseph on the obverse with Hungarian legends. The obverse translates as: "Commemorating the Visit of Franz Joseph I. Emperor and Apostolic King", and the reverse as "Debrecen September 12, 1890". The reverse also features the heraldry of the major city of Debrecen, which was in use in this form since 1693.
