Agree with the sentiment, but why is real in quotes? In the EAC world, variety is just a name for a specific die marriage. Every time a specific obverse and reverse die are used to mint a coin it's a variety, i.e. Sheldon, Newcomb, Cohen numbers.

Doubled dies are certainly varieties as they have a specific obverse die that is easily identifiable. I think the confusion comes when people use variety, error, and notions of value together. Every coin ever minted is a variety, the value comes because some varieties have higher demand, or lower supply.

Okay, but if you're going to start ANY sentence with "In the EAC world...", all bets are already off. It's the right terminology to use. It is a different "world".
