I've been active here for a few months. I would like to do something special for my sisters/brothers/nephews/ etc. for Christmas...... I'm looking for coins that you can buy that could have POSSIBLY been around during Jesus's time. That's the key - coin must date from -200 to 200 AD. I have no clue about this. NOW, I'm hoping that we can get coins with a little detail, etc. I know coins from this era don't have dates and will have zero mention of Jesus, etc. I know that and I will work with that. All I'm asking is for coins from that period. I'm asking what I should ASK FOR. And I want the CHEAPEST coins that can meet those conditions. Any suggestions? And I'm looking at buying about 6 coins of more or less the same type/condition I know there's the Widow's Mite or whatever and that's ok. But is there anything else. Sorry!!!! Don't mean to be difficult. Thanks in advance
There are a few coins on this site that may possibly be of interest to you......... http://www.ancientbiblecoins.com/christiancoins.html
Mites are probably one of your cheapest options for that era or maybe some type of prutah. You can find some that are quite nice depending on your budget. Take a look at VCoins & you'll find all kinds of stuff in your date range. Salem @ Holyland Numismatics has some deals... http://www.vcoins.com/ancient/holyland/store/viewItem.asp?idProduct=976&large=0
i was thinking Mites as well. I always see them around for decent relatively low prices. And most have details easily visable.... good luck, and post pics of what you find
If you want REALLY inexpensive, but still really great quality, check out this is: http://www.ancientcoins.ca/otherf.html He's the only guy I buy ancients from online.

Thanks for for the site info. I've checked a couple of them out. This ancient coin business is looking pretty good!!
Pick up some widows mites for them. They are the same coin used in a parible. I think they run around 20-30 bucks.
