Only the staff can delete a post for their reason. If you post anything it is forever. You can remove material for a very short time after posted, so that is the time to reread and correct. It is done to prevent "he said" " No I didn't~ prove it". Even if a person wrote something that violates the rule and quickly changes it, the software keeps a record of each version of a post for the administration to review. We play for keeps in the site. You show up asking about how the mods are around here. Posting a ton of strange questions (admittedly, mostly amateurish and harmless). Then you start fishing for people to post brothel coins. Something that just got someone banned right before you showed up. You act like you were berated when one of the nicest most knowledgeable people on here gives you a pointer on chat etiquette early on. You have not made much sense nor listened to much reason in this thread (which I have unfortunately spent time in trying, with my limited knowledge, to educate you in). Oh, and a troll shows up in some of your posts and you act like you have no idea what's going on. And now you "accidentally" posted political spam. I'm just saying, just cause I'm a conspiracy theorist doesn't mean people out here aren't up to no good. I'm gonna sit back from your posts and would appreciate it if you'd do the same on mine. Until I feel comfortable that you aren't trolling my friends and I here. Peace out boy scout.

thats fine with me. i never engaged you first,. You replied to my threads first.

And if that was the case becuase i am getting a little tired of walking on egg shells on these message boards. You do the littlest thing and people consider it a hanging offense. I noticed message boards like this are usually some high school clique that shuns anyone new . All i wanted was to come on here and educate and be educated. I made an honest mistake i explained and I apologized. What do you want? a freakin Whitmans Sampler here?

and i didnt fish for any brothel coins. I asked a question if they were real or not. Some of the people on here are way too sensitive. You know its been 48 hours on here and i am already tired of dealing with this board.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is this photo below? I don't know if I found it here on this forum or not. It was just mixed in with my 4000+ ancient coin photo file. I wonder if it came with an online article or website. Anybody know?

He studies them and in turn brings to light forgeries made from these often dangerous dies.

Avoid vcoins. I don't trust them anymore after last month. I felt like a fool buying a fake from them. If you live in the US, buy local only. Many people I know bought fakes from Bulgaria via Ebay( its seems to be a booming business there) Some of them look amazingly convincing too

Many of us (if not all of us) have been fooled, but like you said, there are some amazing fakes out there. I haven't bought on Ebay in a while, but there are certain buyers from certain locations I avaoid no matter how convincing the coin appears. Greece, Bulgaria, Crete just to name a few.

BTW, welcome to CT Ancients @Trajanwinger

Who are you? Do you have an axe to grind? I am a Vcoins dealer and to issue such a broad statement about avoiding Vcoins is wrong. Vcoins is comprised of many individual dealers and to judge all by your (limited) experience is a mistake. How about some information about what happened, perhaps a picture of your fake coin. How did you find out it was fake...did you contact the dealer etc. etc.

I do have to agree with @Victor_Clark. Overall, I trust the dealers on Vcoins. I have never had an occasion to return a coin purchased there.

So send it back. I don't see the problem... All of my local dealers sell on Vcoins and I can see the coins in hand. Sometimes fakes slip through even with the best dealers and auction houses.

So, maybe it's already been mentioned (but I have been on a binge of info and websites for about 5 hours now *sigh*). Could someone please explain how they make "dirty" coins? I purchase uncleaned coins from 2 sellers on eBay that are not on the "bad" lists (Haha) and while cleaning most coins, they seem to rot away if I am not careful but alas, a few are caked with that stuff that doesn't come off and a few others are semi clean and have OK details, enough to identify them (half the fun!). Some are just caked with lots of dirt that Does NOT come off without work until you get to any type of patina. Are these most likely genuine from the "ground" coins? I am really to the point, having read so many ways that this hobby is being polluted, that I am almost ready to hang my hat, even if I just started this portion of the hobby (Having finished the types of U.S. coinage to show the differences till colonial and decided to delve further into the past). This hobby is expensive enough without just tossing money to some a&* that can't just be honest. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

Here’s an FAQ link that should help you stay in the game. If you wish to buy inexpensive Roman lots, until you have more experience, I recommend going to VCOINS.COM and searching for Roman lots. You will find inexpensive coins you can identify and trust.
