I knew what the answers would mainly be and by whom before I even opened the thread, but thanks to those that answered the Question.

    desertgem, really???

I really fail to understand your problem with this - the OP received several adequate answers for his mysterious coin, but how about that '74 S cent? (I mean penny!!!) Wow!

For the most part, I've liked your responses to posts in the past, but with this one I'm very disappointed. :arghh::arghh::arghh:

Yes really. The OP has only been here 1 day. Now maybe he doesn't mind flippant answers or maybe he does, but I see no reason why they are made? Some members are known by not letting any chance to go by without showing they are the reincarnation of ( insert your favorite dead comedian). Does he now think all such comebacks are acceptable? If it was in general discussion, I would pass. Maybe some can think of a very good reason for acting this way that is numismatics based, but I can't. Luckily I can handle such disappointment. True, there were several good answers to his question and thanks to them, but if a person has no such answer to post a reply, why besides a like or 2 do it? No harm done, I appreciate your input. Hmm... I'm feeling like I'm being fingered for derailing a thread, when all I did was (light-heartedly) directly answered the specific question posed by the OP.

It seems to me that no harm was done, I doubt the OP was offended, and he got good responses to the serious aspect of his question.

Oh, and that would be George Carlin...;)

No Jim, you're still off base. First, "The OP has only been here 1 day." is not a valid argument - he does have 39 msgs in 1 day, and he seems knowledgeable. Who knows how long he has been following CT? I was here 4 years before I signed up.

The answers valuable to the OP were direct, concise, & I presume accurate. None of the other answers were directly to the OP. The OP doesn't own the thread. Now, if you're saying we broke some rules, that's one thing, but if you're just commenting because you personally don't like it, well.........

If a rule was broken, it would have been dealt with, so nothing other than playing straight with a new person until you see their personality. If you feel that is OK, and stay with in the rules, you have no problem with me

Remember I was a member long before chosen as a moderator, and being such gives me more responsibility, but it doesn't decrease my being a member and I felt it was childish and inconsiderate since you asked. No, a member doesn't own a thread, but the Forum administration owns how each and everyone posts in that thread. yes, he has 39 posts. did you look at them ( in his profile)? He seemed to present himself in the larger majority as relatively unknowledgeable in numismatics in most.

Other than some were quoting his post before answering, no others were indicated for no specific person, so the assumption most would have is that they were to the OP.

There is no need for any slap on anyone's wrist. It is a difference of points of view and both have been stated, so it should end here. Jim
