Needed a slabbed Grant, and I love the original crustiness of this one.

    So, what's the grade?

It's so crusty you can see he is drunk.
(Nice coin.) With the toning it makes it harder to tell (for me). AU-53?

I will also say AU 55

...the picture makes me think that the coin shows wear, but the crustiness may be affecting my opinion (and it very well could be an MS grade). I do like it!

Depending...at times I'm a sucker for dark ,crusty coins.....this one is raw that said the op's should be a good barometer on mine. downloadfile.jpg downloadfile-2.jpg

@Paddy54 Love the toning! Who took a hatchet to his temple? And thanks for the Xmas template!

If it matters to those guessing, there is luster throughout on my coin. It's there in hand, just not showing in the photos. The toning is a golden bronze sheen, and makes the coin look like a bronze medal. Quite attractive in hand I must say.

The hit on his temple is most probably a strike through.... nice coin you picked up

I don't see real wear, but I can see how the different color on the cheek makes one think it might be an AU.

I thought there was wear on his head and some of the lettering. As I said the toning hides some details/ luster and it's difficult to grade (for me) that's why I am AU.

Question for you experts, "Who's buried in Grant's tomb?" :)

Grant and his wife are buried in Grant's tomb.
Is it in The Bronx? Or Upper Manhattan?
