I hate to point this out>> But the 27P has tanked as well !! I bought one (nice MS63) roughly a year and a half ago. It has done nothing but dropped in price ever since.
Yeah I know (sorta.) I have a 64 and it's dropped a little bit. I traded my my 27 d 63, for a 1878 cc 63 a while back. Even, but good trade in my opinion.
Youve got a cool avatar atleast !! Im a huge cincy fan, theyve tanked ever since he waz let go for DUI. LOL sans this year so far
Awesome Peace Dollars! IMHO, buy the coins you like and enjoy them. . . When I start to think that the coins in my collection aren’t subject to inevitable market swings, I’m gonna give up the hobby and take up water bug wrangling. Peace, brother!
Thanks. Yeah, he's a great coach. We are very fortunate to have him at WVU. It's been very frustrating watching them this year. Hopefully, they can get it together by March.
This is my gut instinct only. . . Setting aside the recent correction, I’d guess the relatively recent surge in the stock market has generally had a negative impact on collectible values. I doubt the negative impact is isolated to Peace Dollars. IMHO and setting aside typical market fluctuations, rarely does a single coin take a dramatic hit in value unless the population of that coin increases beyond expectations. That’s my 2 cents.
Three years ago, several dealers told me that interest in Peace dollars seemed to be on the increase. Perhaps the prices got a bit ahead of themselves and have undergone their own “correction.”
Could very well be the case. You’ll notice I added “setting aside typical market fluctuations” to the post you quoted. The correction you mention could be a result of your focus on those shiny gold things and ignoring your Peace Dollars!
@dwhiz , I just picked up a 1921 in XF40. I plan to break her out of her holder and put her in my new 7070 Dansco. I'm building a circulated 7070 raw. At least trying to. I've already been to one coin show and spent hours pouring over books of raw coins with the hopes of finding nice evenly worn pieces for the 7070. It was a lot of fun. Some of the ones I bought have very fine hairlines and are only visible with a 10x loupe. IMO, they didn't distract from the coins attractiveness. I will be posting pictures in the under $50 thread.
@HAB Peace 28 2.0 I hit the like button on your Peace Dollar pictures, despite the fact that you referred to them as “mistakes”!
Thank you Dunk. I was being semi-sarcastic too. Regardless, they will always have a nice home in my safe.
