1974 mint proof black eye lincoln

    20180216_075725.jpg 20180216_075400.jpg proof set unopened the Lincoln s penny has a black eye ,the rest of the coin very pristine looking is this an error coin. Or rare ,thankyou

    Welcome to CT!!!

    This is actually common on Lincoln Cent Proofs of this era. It is not an error. More like a carbon spot on the coin. Yours is in a funny spot, but it adds no premium.

    Carbon spot, most likely. Not a good thing, unfortunately.

    I agree, this is a carbon spot. It is considered unattractive, and will lower the grade. Unfortunately, this spot is right smack dab in the prime focal area, and its a big spot. The grade and value of this coin is going to be quite low.
