Okey-Dokey fellow numismatists, this is a tricky one which may surprise you. Here is an 1889-S Morgan which was graded by ANACS. What grade did they put on the slab???

    Thanks for taking a look.

Unless you're being sneaky and this is a net-graded slab, I'll guess ANACS graded the coin XF 45 (or AU 50)...Mike

Okay this is probably one of those weak strike issues - I would say XF45 and ANACs said AU55.

You could say it has been damaged--It has been cleaned: I couldn't give it more than EX_45.. But ANACS-bet they gave it a cleaned with high AU or low MS details,(or net.)

^^^ Sorry, but I don't see any damage on this coin or any signs of cleaning. It's just old and been in circulation.

For the old-timers on the forum you all know what the grade is but recently I brought the coin to a meeting of the Black Hills Coin Club and with the item in hand the conscious opinion was infact AU.
