1/4 Sovereign Great Britain Gold - Authentic?

    Does this look authentic? I believe it's a 1/4 Sovereign size that was mounted onto a ring. The letter devices don't appear as sharp as what I'd expect. It looks to be cleaned. I'm thinking of getting it but I'm unsure of its authenticity.

    Doesn't even look like the image of Victoria used on sovereigns.

    Fake - or more accurately what they call a "Jewellers copy" made to loosely resemble a gold coin to be set in jewellery. May still have gold content, but no guarantee how much unless hallmarked.

    Yes fake, also no Quarter Sovereigns were struck under Victoria.

    Fake. 1/4 Sovereigns are a more modern thing (last 10 years or so). Look at images of real Sovs and 1/2 sovs to get a feel of what the surfaces should look like. There are some deceptive pieces out there, but the older one's have accurate weight and fineness, so you wouldn't get burnt too badly.
