well with all the metal detector posts lately its renewed my intrest in that great hobby. Curruntly I have A Whites Coinmaster 1000 which is over 20 years old. I do most my hunting on sandy beaches but do some on grass. I am most intrested in coins but always like to find relics too. What would you recommend to replace my aging detector with under $500?
    thanks

I will be buying the wife a Whites Prism 5, right at $500 and is supposed to be a great " coin shooter " and great on jewelry as well. We also looket at a Garrett for her, but chose the Prism just on brand recognition, easier on us that way we have similar machines.

Mine was $1007 out the door with an extra deep coil, and a cpl accesories.

I can't recommend a detector for you but if you would like to see what type of products are out there and compare prices you may want to try Kelly Co. They have a wide range of detectors and they are rated 5 stars. Here's the link: http://www.kellycodetectors.com/indexmain.htm

The Whites are tops in my book.
Any of the top models will work great.
