The mint site was not that crowded on this Spouse coin. This one may not be selling like the others. Anyone else get a Madison spouse coin?

I did. I noticed the same thing. Much quicker response time.

Didn't even try to get in until about 12:10. Ordered the proof & Unc. under two different orders and both went through by 12:30. Now at 1:00 it looks like you could get through without any wait. The $100 increase along with the lousy resale value has killed this series or at least this coin. The dealers will be able to get all they want and I don't believe this will sell out before the week is up.

    HELLO!?

Dolly Madison has to be one of the BEST known first ladies.

The sales are surprising me - Maybe this series has already met it's maker.

:headbang: Well it's past 12 hours since the dolly went on sale and the mint website shows both proof & unc. have not only not sold out, but they haven't even posted a waiting list yet. Over $500 per coin really killed this issue especially since gold has dropped $60 an ounce in the last week. Anyone know when the 5th spouse coin is to go on sale? Is it the first part of January?

It certainly is dead for speculators.
I think they have the bronze medals misnamed: they call them the "Poor man's first spouse coin".

They should call the gold 1/2 oz. coins the "Poor man's first spouse coin" because anyone who attempts to collect the whole series will become poor after they pay for it.

So am I. I still think it will be an amazing set to behold when it's completed.
Hey, lot's of people will spend far more on getting a new car every 3 years then I will on the First Spouse series and will have nothing to show for it.

    Question

The question I have for those of you who are collecting this series is will you purchase the proof, the uncirculated or both?

    Thanks

It's a dead series as far as value goes -I barely got out of the Jeffereson -which is selling in coin journals for close to Mint issue.

Disapointing. But as was stated a few months ago in the Abigail and Martha frenzie, it was likely the speculators driving the price surges -

I haven't checked lately, but I did not see any Madison's selling on ebay for anything worth my time.
