The coin on the right is a dime missing its top copper nickel layer showing the copper underneath, does anyone else have one also?
Can you take a clearer picture please? It looks like a dime with toning from environmental damage but I can't tell by this one photo.
Thanks. The spots on the dime in question lead me to a stronger belief that its environmental damage. I've never seen a clad coin missing the outer layer with spots. Every one I've seen is solid copper.
It looks promising as a missing clad layer. Usually, (not always) environmental damage affects both sides, but your reverse looks fine. The lower weight is a positive, but you should double check to make sure your scale is weighing accurately. Weigh a couple of clad dimes and they should come out around 2.27 gms (if your scale only has precision to 0.1 gm then 2.2-2.3 gms). If they are different, then your scale isn’t accurate.
