Very, very lovely. My esteemed colleague might be right, though. They are clairvoyant crackpots at these TPGs. I give it 60-40 against getting a grade out of them. Hope I'm wrong.
It is very nice regardless of the rating. It has very nice eye appeal. I would go MS-63 but I'm not a grader like the others.
That's the way. It's tarnish. A TPG doesn't think it's up to their artificial standards to play in their plastic market, that's their business. It's not an indictment on anything whatsoever wrong with this tarnish.
This is considered a solid semi key in MS. Unfortunately something looks off with it to me. I'm not gonna try grading it by a pic.
I haven’t seen a Peace Dollar yet that I don’t like! This one included. As for grading, I’d agree she’s likely to come back as questionable color. Keep her out of the plastic and enjoy her!
I think the toning is normal and looks nice. However, the way it's toning may create a questionable thought. Graders would ding if it is. Having said that, a 1924-S is considered a lower mintage in the series but very common in lower grades, rare in gem. This looks like a MS-63 to me. I'm looking at the coin and ignoring the toning. A MS-63 graded is under $400. Over a thousand are sealed in that grade. Less but still a high number in MS-64. So to be s gem your looking at being a 65 and this coin is not going to make it. My advice is do not have it graded as the costs outweigh the intended results. Protect the coin and enjoy as is.
I’d send it in and hope for the best. Maybe you can piggyback it with other coins to keep the cost down.
Don't want to hurt your feelings or anything, but being honest, I'd say AU details, probably cleaned. I usually don't send coins out to grade unless I know they are $150+ in value since the PCGS and NGS fees are high, like $35-45/coin. You could always send to ANACS to get a ball park of what this coin is valued at.
Wait, unless there is a driving need to try for the money. It will probably go Au-55 or maybe 58, but It doesn't have the fields of a MS grade. I think the toning has had some help. Jim
Yes, though I've personally had few issues in the past even when grading coins from eBay, and while I know it is a risk, it was bought on a gift card, so I'm into it for nothing out of pocket personally, and has a generous return policy. I don't have a lot of US coins in my collection to speak of so I was looking to get initial feedback from everyone here, and will post more pictures later. Graded or not, it is a great looking piece that I'm happy to have as long as it is authentic, especially for basically free.
So I received the coin and took some new pictures. The colors of toning aren't quite so pronounced and bright as they were made to look in the listing pictures, and it actually has a decent cartwheel luster. I do like the coin so I'll probably just keep it in my collection. Any further thoughts?
I don’t know if it’ll straight grade. Maybe. I had a 23 with similar fairly dark toning come back as au 55 straight. Worth the $20 to run through an economy submission just in case it grades
That's what I'm leaning towards at this point. It's a gamble, but it's a coin I like for myself, and if it grades, all the better.
