Conservation Black Spots on Bronze/Copper

    Be sure you have a solvent which can remove the lacquer safely BEFORE you apply it to anything other than wood.

    No, pretty much any time you see a coin with a spot that looks like that it's due to a piece of foreign material having been deposited onto the coin and during the course of its decay having caused toning like that.

    The spot might not have been that bad prior to encapsulation, huh? So nasty.
