2 questions here: 1. What is the best "holder" for storing something of value? 2. More interesting in my case, what is the best way to be able to store & easily view circulation notes that aren't worth more than face value? My main goal is to find things that interest me vs the investment aspect, and I'm looking for a way to easily view / organize my collection. Thanks in advance!
I store mine in mylar sleeves that are available from coin/stamp supply stores, then put them in a box that they sell to hold them. The ones that I like that are older and in higher grades I send to CGA for grading and the holders. They used to be the guys until some of their graders started grading their own stuff higher than it should have been. New owners trying to get back to respectability. You can get 10 certs with return shipping for $100 on eBay.
i use these https://www.wizardcoinsupply.com/products/currency-pages/ and a three ring binder for all of my currency that is not of high value....
I'm assuming 4 notes per sheet for modern US currency? This is kinda what I was thinking for the low value stuff... A relatively cheap way to store hundreds of circulation notes in a binder and be able to flip through it quickly. Also, any material that needs to be avoided (stuff that will wreck paper notes) or is that mostly off the market now? Thanks for the help guys
i have 4 note sheets for modern small currency and 3 note sheets for large currency, domestic and foreign and also 2 note sheets for some very large foreign currency, and i dont believe a coin & currency supplier would sell something that would be damaging, i have notes that have been stored this way in my binder for 30+ years and they look the same as the day i put them in there...
Much appreciated info! I'll be looking into getting a similar setup. I know some (I'm assuming very old) coin holders were damaging to coins at one point, but figured almost all modern coin and currency holders would be safe by now.
I use http://www.brooklyngallery.com for all my supplies. They give excellent service but shipping is a bit steep so I always more sure to put in a big order. I've never bought currency sleeves from them but I was actually planning on doing so next time I put in an order as I recently acquire quite a bit of world currency.
