Sorry for the poor photos. Any thoughts on value/authenticity? Don't know much about foreign coins...

    Question 1: Are they magnetic?
Question 2: Are they the correct size/weight? (39mm/27 grams)
Question 3: Can you take some straight on images of these (looking at them from an angle won't help the more experienced members as much as they'd be able to help if the images were head-on)

Here's a link to the NGC Price Guide and Numista.

I've heard rumors there were lots of counterfeits of these floating around.

My start point with these would be to assume fake because there are so many fakes of them around. Almost every local auction in the UK has had them in the last year. The fact that yours came from a non-expert source increases that likelihood to me.

Thanks for the replies. Working on weighing and better pics. Not magnetic.

I think these are real, if you would like to compare.

Assuming they are real their value is about $4 over silver melt value which at today's price is 52 cents per gram therefore .52 X 27 = 14.04 X 0.9 (percentage of purity) = $12.64 + $4 premium your coins values are $16.64 each UNLESS of course they turn out to be fake. They should be examined in person by a qualified numismatist. http://coinquest.com/cgi-bin/cq/coins?main_coin=2412&main_ss_id=319723

The first photo did look like they are of concern. However with the second photos - it does look genuine.

In my opinion, I'd grade these as Fine, but I am rather conservative... NGC gives a retail value of them as $31.75 each in VF.... with that in mind, I checked EBay as well. The going rate for these is probably about $20-25 depending on the buyer, if you were to sell them.
