Coin & Currency set storage options?

After reading a lot of threads on silver toning lately, I decided to pull out some of my higher grade silver and give it a look. I discovered that the silver dollar in my 1997 Botanic Garden Coinage and Currency set has begun to tone. I've kept it in the original mint packaging since buying it from the mint 20 years ago. Because of the unique packaging, I'm wondering what - if anything - I should do. Comments appreciated.

Remove it and encapsulate it in a better holder?

Leave it alone, let it tone (hopefully in an attractive manner) and keep the original package intact?

Is the original packaging even worth a premium in a set like this?

    Thanks for reading!

Hmm. That's not good at all. You should probably just offload the set here in the B/S/T section...lol (sarcasm)

(I have a decent little hoard of the matte proof nickels that come in these sets, to help better explain my joke. I am not attempting to break forum rules.)

I would think that the toning could be worth a premium if it develops into a nice rainbow, but I'd guess that "cloudy yellow" and the dark spot on the other side wouldn't be worth much, and might even bring the value down a bit. I mean, it's a relatively common modern silver commemorative worth about $25-30 raw...

What do others think - do you see this toning progressing in a positive or a negative direction?

Negative the way it is clouding near UNITED on the reverse.

    Hmm. Botanical Gardens dollar?

Sweet coin! I wouldn't tone it.

    IMO, toning is overrated...

    Even this kind of toning?

(Happened straight from the OGP, coming back from NGC as a 69. I'm not saying I'd collect it...but I'd sure as heck realize that it would bring a premium over a normal coin to a large enough subset of collectors...)

WELL, when you post a coin with toning that perfectly imitates a flippin' rainbow(!), I suppose I can understand a ~slight~ premium...

It appears the flexible plastic has been compromised in that area and has also become discolored. I'm curious if I should remove the coins as the leak might affect the nickel as well. The nickel is the more collectible coin, after all. I kinda hate to destroy the package, though. :)

    Save the coin.

I'd let it tone more because it adds to the theme of the coin. its developing a rose gold like color to it which is cool with the rose on the reverse and the toning is happening mostly on the reverse.
