2 cent piece..date not legible

    Hello again. Something about this 2 cent piece intrigued me. Looks like it has environmental damage, parts of the design appear to be raised. Is this coin just a product of corrosion? Thanks for your consideration! This site is an extremely valuable resource for collectors.

    I think I see a 4 in the date in the second picture. Anyone else?

    That one is pretty much gone, looks like a ground find.

    Looks like someone dug it out of the ground and gave it a major cleaning.

    ...but not major enough, from the number of pits still occupied by green stuff.

    Yep, looks like ground acids have been gnawing on it since soon after it was minted.

    No apology necessary. We all have/had "ugly" coins, and even they can provide entertainment/information/education.
