My mailbox runneth over! Wanna look over my shoulder as I open some packages? :-)

Been waiting on several coins to come in the mail.

A few days ago the mailbox was full of packages, and I got all excited.

But the packages were all for my daughter, who's gotten into thrift store shopping and is buying and selling vintage clothing and stuff online now.

Then the next day the mail was all for me, but all junk mail. :yack:

Dear ASPCA, World Wildlife Fund, Humane Society, etc., etc., etc... you know I love critters, and I support your efforts, but if I had known that a single $50 donation to the ASPCA five or six years ago was going to open the floodgates for y'all to drown me in junk mail solicitations, I might have rethought that. Thanks for the calendars and address labels and such, but I'd rather you used that contribution I made to help the critters instead of barraging me with mail asking for MORE donations, and sharing my address with every other like-minded organization. Sheesh!

(I swear I get a come-on from one of these animal welfare organizations every two to three days.)

Oh. Where was I? Sorry for the tangent.

Ah, yes. My mail. Let's open some packages.

Gonna have to wait until I get home, though, since I'm finishing up a shift here at work.

I'm as eager as you (well, OK, probably more eager) to see what's in here!

@Ken Dorney- I see your address on one of these, so that one finally made it!

    Stay tuned... :)

Edit 2 by lordmarcovan: Thank you, moderator. I realized that on my drive home and was gonna fix it, but you beat me to it. Will repost a redacted version shortly. Not that my address is a state secret, or that there's anything worth stealing at my house. Knock on the door and I'll give you all three TVs - only two work, and none are flat screens. Our other electronics are similarly unexciting, our furniture mostly worn out, and my coins don't stay here- they are all kept in a safe deposit box offsite.

Update: redacted version of earlier photo):

I'm with you on the critter thing, to, @lordmarcovan .

BTW, I see that you have an HP logo on one of those items there. I certainly hope you never have to contact their customer support. I was having an install issue with a Wi Fi printer I just bought. My problem was resolved for me after 5.5 hours on the phone with a variety of curt individuals — two even said that they didn't want to help me and hung up on me.

Sorry for the thread crap, and I hope you have lots of neat things to show.

I've had better luck with HP myself, but happily never had to call customer support.

In any event, if anything goes wrong with any of the equipment you see in that photo, that's Information Services (our IT department)'s problem. I took that picture at work.

Headed home now (I'm in line in the Chick-Fil-a drive-thru, picking up breakfast for ladymarcovan and Victoria.)

Don't see mine in that pile Rob, but imagine it'll be there in another day or two.

So, after opening them, are you going to post a video of you rolling in your pile of coins for us to watch? Then again, maybe rolling in your pile of junk mail would be more appropriate.

@lordmarcovan hey brother, I can see your address in the pile there. You might want to retake the photo with some of it covered.

Very good advice @Seattlite86 . . . I imagine the exposed address information was unintentional . . . looks like Doug beat me to the edit.

Thankee there, Modpeople. Good lookin' out. 'Twas a brief lapse of judgment, as suspected. I shall repost a redacted version of the OP photo and redact the addresses in the coming pix. Not that I'm really that worried about my address being out there. I don't keep my coins at home and our other belongings are, sorry to say, mostly crap not worth stealing. And guarded by dogs including a shepherd mix. And redneck neighbors with lots of guns. We live waaay out in the boondocks. :bucktooth::rolleyes:

Update: the view from my mailbox, on a gorgeous, cloudless day last week.

Item #1. The orange pickup slip.

That'll have to wait until Monday or Tuesday to be seen in person, because the post office is 25 miles away and I ain't going back to town today.

However, the letters "CNG" on the sender's line tell me everything I need to know about what is waiting downtown. :)

Item #2: an envelope from Oregon.

Thin. Light. If there's a coin in here at all, it's tiny.

I don't know what this is!

Shall we see? Stand by ...

(Update: had to fix this picture 'cause I hung my address out there again. Duhhh!)

If you flip your PS3849 (peach slip) over there is a place on the left side where you can authorize redelivery. If properly signed the post office will re deliver to save you the 25 miles. Just sign as per the directions on the reverse and place in your mailbox with the flag up. Next delivery day it should be there. Depending on the value you may not want this but it's an option.

    AHA!

Item #2 is the 1914 Panama-Pacific Exposition postcard I bought on eBay! I can't afford the dream coin, but I've got something related to the same event, now! (And for $4 instead of $40,000.)

That postcard was a lucky impulse buy. A serendipitous find, for $3.99 delivered.

It is discussed in this recent thread.

    Here- I won't redact Mrs. W.A. Mumper's adress.

    She won't mind.

    She's dead.

Yes, thanks. Will probably do that, unless some outgoing packages require me to make a P.O. town trip anyway, which is what usually happens.

Don't worry, Mods. I'll fix that one.

    Geez.

You could've already HAD my address if you'd been paying attention! I accidentally posted it at least three times in the photos above... on two separate occasions! :hilarious::facepalm:

    Item #3.

Hey, @Ken Dorney- this one's all you, man!

I guess they finally found where it fell off the conveyor - or whatever happened - in Jacksonville, when it was showing us it was "delayed" in the tracking.

Who wants to see what I bought from Dorney, hmm? ;)
