Has anybody seen this 1974 d penny? Whats wrong with abe??

We were moving out some things from my grandmothers house, and come across 2 books. Both the same with places for 1959 through 1982. Both are nearly full with some great looking coins, but looking over the secong book i spotted the top pic here. Abes looking a little rough these days, the bottom is the other for comparison. Hopefully somebody can give me some insight

Looks like one was struck with a normal Die and the other with a worn Die.. nothing major.

The lines in the field of the first coin says that the die had gone through a die polishing, To remove something. But, if you look at the details of Lincoln, in his face and jaw line, the first got a much stronger strike.
