@Coin E Zees for future reference when @BooksB4Coins @furryfrog02 and @Rick Stachowski help you out you can’t do much better! Reed.
Cool. I believe you mean that I have some reliable people commenting. Yeah I thought the 1982D 3.1 g small date was a variety worth holding on to. Thanks for the feedback.
Could you expand. I'm new st this so wasn't sure if it's really a good one to hold on to as far as the 1982 cent varieties. Thanks
@NAD its a Small date W/ PMD. The 2 is the “Tell” The down leg of the 2 is curved not straight that’s how I see it Reed.
The 1982-D small date copper is the holy grail. I am assuming the OP's coin is zinc regardless of the weight.
I just realized it's a double die as well on the D and u can see a sideways 9 or something Also looking closer at the 8
1982-D small date copper is a 5 figure coin. If you think it's real then it has to be authenticated. Good luck. So far only 1 has surfaced in 36 years.
Nobody can make anything out of those pictures. I see you focused on the "D". That looks more like the plating has split from where the mint mark is and is exposing the zinc underneath.
I agree with @furryfrog02. The D isn't doubled. Split plating around the date and mm and letters was common in the early Zincolns
I agree with @Oldhoopster and @furryfrog02 I also see split plating. Not an error that adds any premium value and actually makes the coin non-desirable to collectors. Hope this helps. Reed.
