I picked this up recently along with a few other Indian head cents. I'm not a specific collector of Toned coins but the obverse on this one is really pretty! The luster is better in person as well. The toning makes the diamonds a little harder to see but they are all there. The missing dentils on the reverse have me a bit stumped. Would this be considered an error?
Your right that is a really pretty coin! The missing denticles look to me to be the result of a strike thru. Here is a picture of a coin of mine that was struck thru a solid contaminate/grease mix. Although this coin is not like yours it shows the effect of a strike through and how details can be smoothed and surfaces changed. Hope this helps, Reed.
