I found this Jefferson nickel and noticed that the mint Mark was clearly repunched. There is also doubling on the bust and in the date and edge of the coin. Is there such a thing as both double die and RPM? I don’t know much about nickel double die varieties so I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts. 1996 P RPM by Lance Murphey posted Feb 8, 2018 at 8:05 AM
Thanks for your input. Looking straight down on the mint mark, they are not a uniform shadow of each other. The one on top is rotated slightly. Would that be possible with DDD?
It looks like machine doubling to me. By the way, it can't be an RPM because the Mint stopped punching the mintmarks into the working dies about 1990. They were incorporated into the hub. Chris
When I say its DDD everyone else says it's MD.. And when I say it's MD then you all say its DDD.. I can't win!
