Dime error?

    I have this dime and was wondering if it could be an error. The indent goes all the way across the obverse and from the front it looks like the edges are indented also however the reeding is intact.

    It looks like it could be a struck through error but because the rim looks like it's also missing a chunk out of it this leads me to believe it's post mind damage and not an error. I encourage you to weight the coin and compare it weight. If the dime you have weights a little less than that should add evidence to PMD and not error.

    I weighed that dime and another dime and it was 2.3 on the dime and 2.2 on the one I thought was an error. So, that means it's not an error doesn't it?

    Correct. Not a Mint Error. There is a -/+ tolerance for weight and yours is not much of a difference.
