Looks like you don't understand the Cent color scale. That is not Red... It's more like Brown. There are 3 stages Red Red Brown Brown Here is a chart -
It's also not "red". I dig up red cents all the time that have turned a dark red color from being in the ground. Air, soil, water, chemicals, elements react with the copper and turn it red. Here's one I got the other day:
