i do every time i see change on the ground one cent up . my father always told me it may be only one cent but if you pick it up a hundred will be a dollar. and it is one more than you had to start with.
Oh, heck yeah ! I'm tighter than a duck's bottom and it's like a little treasure hunt to see what the date is, and ect. I'd probly wouldn't pick one out of dog doo, but if it looked like an indian cent I'd think about it.
Every time I see one with absolutely no shame. I'll add that I will pick up the smallest piece of copper or copper wire that I see on job sites. Don't see what I used to but when people "made fun" of it I always asked them if they'd pick up a dollar laying on the floor. It all adds up to my "mad" money in the long run.
I, um, "confess" to the moral flaw of picking them up. (Really, why do people look down on that sort of thing -- even coin collectors fer cryin out loud?) I even pick up the half cents I find -- no not that kind -- I never find those. I pick up the cents cut in half that i frequently find near the local telephone substation. I figure its someone playing with their new wire cutter.
I do it, and see nuttin wrong with it. A few times have found some wheaties, and have heard of people finding some nicer ones on the ground. Phoenix
Constantly, and without reservation. I also pull the copper cents out of the "take a penny, leave a penny" tray at the corner grocery store. And nope, I'm not worried about who thinks what either. :thumb:
heck yea!:kewl: i've probaly found $5 in change on the ground, and another $40-$45 with my detector. thats $50 extra in 2 years! :mouth:
Speaking of which..... I'm at work and just picked up a '79 off the carpet. Into the copper bag it goes.....
Yup, no shame here snatch all that I see, don't like it when you see what might be nickles, dimes or quarters run over to give'em the ole snatch and they turn out to be the galvanized electric box plug, I'll just leave'em for the change picker-upper John
I might even push a little old lady out of the way for that penny or loose change. Just kidding. Last weekend I did point out $20 dollar bill in a busy place to my 6 year old nephew. My sister made him put it in his piggy bank.
I just point it out to my kids so and let them have the fun. Now, if it were an IHC or a key wheat, I might distract them while I pick it up.
Not only do I pick them up, I actively search for coins on the ground. While walking the dog I've made over twenty dollars this year. I even give my children tips about the best places to look for loose change on the ground. My wife is embarassed every time I stoop down to pick one up. She's got no problem spending them though.
I usually pick up coins laying on the ground, they just get taken home and put in the old pickle jar, thoroughly examined first of course.
The worst I've ever done is I saw a small double folded piece of paper blow across the street in front of me as I was driving. I thought to myself "there's only one thing you fold that way to put in your pocket." I turned around figuring that the least it could be was a buck. The three other guys I worked with were upset but didn't mind breakfast on me when it turned out to be $100. Richard
I once did the math and figured that (while at work) if it took more than 2.5 seconds to pick up a cent, it was not worth it. But at convenience store parking lots, I still scan the ground and pick up any i see.
Absolutely! I've often come across that tell-tale glittering wink from a lonely Lincoln cent beckoning me to stoop and smooch. I fall for it every time, and have found some mint stately beauties carelessly abandoned when they should have been kept, caressed, and examined up close!
