    Forgot I had this: Elizabeth I milled Sixpence from 1562. This was from the first experiments in milled coinage in Britain, carried out by a Frenchman called Eloy Mestrelle. It did not go well for him in the end and he finished up in the Tower of London and executed for fraud.

    Still on the Queen Victoria theme, eh? Fine by me!

    Nice Straits 20c, @coin_nut. The perfect grey color on it more than compensates for a few faint old hairline. I like that one.

    This was ours in the Victoria Hope collection.

    All right. "Royal ladies" seems to be slowing down.

    I'll wrap that theme up with Queen Mary, here (shown alongside William III on this 1693 Irish halfpenny), and change the theme to "two headed".

    This can mean jugate portraits like the coin below, or janiform heads like this monstrosity, or your usual double-headed beasts or birds, like @PaddyB posted four posts back.
