Since I took some pics of the Hawaii medal tonight, I figured I'd snap this too.

Don't you dare! Too many of the GSAs get cracked out for grading. That's a beauty. Keep it and pick up a black presentation box and serial numbered card, if you don't have it already.

    Thanks !

I've got the whole Richard Nixon box & everything.
I intend to keep her the way she is.

Nice coin! I thought PCGS and NGC graded them in these boxes?

    Do they ?
I honestly have not seen one, yet.
I've never sent anything in for grading, so I'm completely ignorant.
    I'm such a noob.

You learn something new every day, especially here on CoinTalk.

What do you guys think this one would grade ?
I was thinking the high side of MS-64.
Do you think it could pull a 65 ?

I personally think it is a solid 64 - then again I can not see all the details so I would not rule out a 65.

Hard to tell from the photo...It looks like a weak strike to me and I'm guessing those are marks on the high cheek from the photo?...I can't see the detial in the hair too well. (its either your photo or my computer) I'd say 64 based on what I see. Could easily pull a 65 if the hair lines are crisp and the cheek marks are rubs rather than marks. It is definatly a nice one. BTW, I think only NGC keeps the GSAs in their original holder... and PCGS cracks them out. I could be wrong, but either way preserving an original is always nice>:D

I was thinking an easy 65.

    They are rubs.
It just depends on how the light is hitting it, the spots appear shiney.
My picture taking ability still leaves a lot to be desired.
Here are some more QUICK pics to show it in a different light and angles.

I stand by my solid 65 theory.

It is likely that NGC would grade the coin a 63.

Sorry cody, but it won't quite go 65. ;) Still, it's a very nice coin roto. :thumb: It's a solid 63, might go 64 on a good day. BTW, NGC is the only grading service that grades GSA's in their original holder. PCGS will take it out and you'll never see the holder again.

Thanks for all the input, everyone !
Thanks for the info and pics about NGC grading them in their original holders, too.

If it graded a 63, it wouldn't bother me much.
I only shelled out $180 for her.

    Daniel,
Do you have all the coins made or what? Really nice NGC & PCGS examples of a couple of beautiful Morgans.

    Roto,
I wouldn't crack it out of the GSA holder. If you really want it graded then go with NGC. It'll look real classy in it's original holder with the NGC certification. :thumb:
