My wife and I are headed to New York City for a long weekend next week and our schedule is pretty wide open, so I thought I’d see if anyone had any recommendations for a coin shop I could/should check out.
    Thanks!

Stacks is one of the older coin shops in the country, but they are more geared towards you going in and telling them what you want than doing any sort of browsing. You could do an online search for New York coin shops. I agree with paddyman -- far less than you would think and far less than when I was growing up around there (admittedly, in the ever-receding past) ....

Rents are expensive in NYC. Unless you have a high volume, high margin business you're going to be setting up shop outside of the city limits.

Those little 5 by 8 foot minishops just floor me. That's where Frank was hiding out in the Men In Black movies.

If I remember you might find some on 47th Street by the Gold and Diamond Markets. MTB, (shows how old I am) had a retail shop in the Empire State Building. I think Deak-Perra also had a Shop there. Paul Bosco has a unique shop. “The most interesting coin store in Manhattan that I found is Paul Bosco's shop: 149 Madison Avenue on 32nd St, just east of Madison New York, NY 10016. All the other shops mentioned are good standard shops but a little boring . But Paul's shop is a wonderfully disorganized shop, But Paul seems to be able to find his way around every thing. He has a storage area above the shop so if there is anything specific your looking for ask him. Here is a link to his website:

http://www.pauljbosco.com/“ it had two different addresses so verify that first.

    Art,

MTB also had a location inside "30 Rock" for years. Gone now. Bosco looks like the "real deal". He seems to spend on rent what might have otherwise gone to a website developer.

Yes he moved recently. I saw him at the NYINC show and he told me he was in the process of moving. No more 32st street shop.

I throw the ball to first base, whoever it is grabs the ball, so the guy runs to second. Who picks up the ball and throws it to what. What throws it to I don't know. I don't know throws it back to tomorrow--a triple play.

I guess on 2nd, but I'm not sure if it's a street or an avenue.

I was under the impression that Bosco does mostly medals. I bought a Lusitania medal from him. He’s very friendly and most helpful on the phone. Had a seamless transaction with him from home.

Lusitania medal, huh? And the transaction sailed right through, huh? Ironic.
