Why are the details so sharp?

I have this 1999 penny that looks just like a normal business strike at first glance, but it has many features of a proof. Despite not having mirrored fields, the coin has extremely sharp detail and rims. Could this be some sort of anomaly or just a well-struck coin?

You are looking at a normal business strike coin and it looks nothing like a proof.
Granted, it has fared better in it's nearly 20 years in circulation that some zincolns but it is definitely not nearly the quality of a proof.

Beveled edge gives it away as a business strike.
