I collect Constantine VII coins because in his reign the first coins I have found with the name Christopher were struck in gold and silver. Well, another son of Romanus was named after Christopher died. His name was Stephen, and is also the earliest known reference to that name I can find. It was only struck in silver.

Constantine VII Porphyrogenitus, with Romanus I, Stephen, and Constantine . 913-959. AR Miliaresion (22mm, 2.33 g, 12h). Constantinople mint. Struck 931-944. Cross potent set on three steps; in central medallion, crowned facing bust of Romanus; pelleted cross below / +ROmAҺO’/COҺSτAҺτ’/SτЄFAҺOS/CЄ COҺSτA’/ЄҺ X’ω Ь’ R’ in five lines; – + – above and below. DOC 20; SB 1755. VF, toned, clipped.

I just bought this, (with the help of a friend).

Here is to SteveX, hoping all is well with him and he is enjoying life. Here is to you homie.

Excellent coin and interesting history lesson too. If his posts over on FORVM are any indication, he at least seems to be in good spirits.
