Yeah, I know. A lot of you guys like to collect "one" of each coin type. I simply cannot help myself when I see a pretty coin. SASANIAN KINGS. Vahrām (Bahram) II, with Queen and Prince 3. AD 276-293. AR Drachm (28mm, 3.78 g, 3h). Style D. Uncertain mint. Jugate busts of Vahrām (Bahram), wearing winged crown with korymbos, and his queen, wearing kolah with boar’s head, right, vis-a-vis bust of Prince 3, wearing kolah with boar’s head, left, holding diadem; three pellets below head of queen’s kolah / Fire altar with ribbon; flanked by Bahram and his queen, holding ring; fravahr to left of flames fravahr to left of flames. SNS type VIIc(1)/5b(1a), style D/c and pl. 21, A53 (same obv. die); Sunrise 789 var. (no pellets). Near EF, find patina.
I can't clearly make out your avatar, but it seems the busts of the queen and prince are better struck up on the new coin. Congrats on a great coin!
That is a super coin. There are dozen variations of these I would consider worth collecting but I feel lucky to have my single low end example. Note the difference in the animals used on the queen's crown.
No! Did you buy the Sleepy Eyed Bahram II Family? Congrats. I just wrote about it in the bucket list thread.
Thanks John, and thanks again for the help. My avatar has some toning, so the obverse is not as weak as it appears in the pic, but the new one is better. The avatar coin might have a slightly better reverse, with the emperor and empress figures clearer. Eh, that is why you need multiples. Always something unique to love about each coin.
