1 bank tonight had $4 in halves, 3 of which were 70’s Cu-Ni proofs fresh out of sets. The rest were junk, but I’ll keep the proofs!

Finished this week's 4 boxes of cents. Nothing extraordinary except this 1909 Lincoln Wheatie :) I think he's looking good for being 109 years old.

So I posted this on another forum first to get the general consenus since I wasn't able to tell 100% for myself. Consensus is that it was a 1960-P Small Date cent like I thought. The die chips are what was making it super hard for me. This is my first 60P Small Date found roll searching. I've searched 529 boxes and probably 50 bags.

Had to stop by the bank to finish signing some paperwork. On a whim, asked the teller if she had any large dollars or halves. She was super-happy to sell me four Ikes and two CWRs of halves. 3 1968-D's. :woot:

Don't think I'm quite ready to dive back into roll-hunting, but there is a certain temptation...!

Has anyone used the newer coin counters at there CU or bank that have the small plastic window you lift put coins in shut ? I see my CU switched to one today when I was there and I do not see how you can dump many halves at a time in one.

Ha Ha we posted at same time. There were a lot of folks in bank so I did not check it out but one of the other branches has one and I could not figure it out there either.

I used one this week. Can’t get many halves in at a time, maybe 50. Is slower than the old open top type, but I don’t care, they are doing me a service. I’ll use it with a smile .

    $100 CWR Nickels - 28 pre-1960 average circulateds dated 1939-1959

    $200 CWR Dimes - Skunk

One of my regular pick up banks was cleaned out of rolls this weekend, but the teller offered up "some pretty dirty pennies" in her tray... turned out to be 22 wheat backs. The best of the bunch were: 13, 15, 18, 25, 43 (x5), 43-D. The 43-D steelie is a hole filler.

I'm working on a roll marked "50 as close to perfect as it gets"
Not hardly. A few go off to the wild stack. A very few make 6.
But most are going to be 5.

Just finished a rather eclectic box of halves. No silver, but did find:
    • 2 Colorized (Elvis, Mt Rushmore)
    • 5 Gold Plated
    • 1 Silver Plated
    • 1 1974-D Doubled Die
    • 1 Impaired 1978-S Cameo Proof
    • 10 2002 - 2015 NIFCs 8C5F8AF3-B9CB-40D6-9E26-2490424DD394.jpeg

1, $10 MWR of halves from 1 bank Saturday held nothing of note.

Tomorrow is half dollar dump day for me.

It’s been cold outside, which makes me want to stay inside near my woodstove. Next week I’ll make my routine run to area banks and buy all their halves.

Just did a copper roll marked "50 FINE !!" got perhaps 15 '6'.
10 or 11 '5'. 4 going back into the wild. 13 to 15 or so that would be 4 at best. Things sure have changed in just several months.

Don't plan to make a 4 roll unless I have to.

Have one more roll I never assigned a number to.
And plenty of 5 rolls to go back through.

Scanner up and running... box of nickels:
    39p, 4x40p, 42s + 43p + 45s silvers, 4x46p, 46d, 47s, 49p, 52d, 53p, 3x53d, 54p, 54d, 55d, 56p, 56d, 2x57d, 3x58d, 3x59d. Total of 33 pre-1960 (average about 25 and less than 1 silver per box). Only 67 dated 1964... about average per box.

I just made up 4 boxes to return to CU. $140 in each. Been sitting on too many for months. Don't want the CU I return them to to get mad at me. scan8700.jpg scan8701.jpg

Got a call from my bank. They had another guy deposit $600 in large dollars if I wanted them. I got them of course...Nothing spectacular. A couple of nice toned Ikes that I can't take a proper picture of. I switched them out in my folder. No Type 2's.
