A very nice Tanka, Bone. And a historical piece. And after seeing really beautiful square coins by other members, I am hesitant to scan some of my ugly Indian square coins.... Regards, Ballabh Garg
I have one this (1982), but I can't scan it right now : Not much to say : Philippines km224 1 Sentimo (1979-1982) One friend of mine went there to work in the 70s and brought some "souvenirs" to me.
Hello bgarg, I also own some square coins which are showing much wear, like some of those Ceylon 5 cents, so don't be shy to show your Indian square coins. By the way, these are very nice coins shown here! bart
Thank You very much for taking a look. It's good to know that the attribution and the coin match. Take Care ben
Bart already beat me to it - but the only square coin I have is a UNC 1971 Ceylon 5 cent. They are cool. Anyone up to do a type set???????
Here's a Netherlands 1914 5 cent that caused all sorts of design problems. Hoitsema (the mint master) and Wienecke (the designer) didn't get along. For some reason, Hoitsema was determined to have a four-sided coin, and he constantly pestered Wienecke with suggestions. Even though their offices were in the same building, Wienecke wrote a letter of complaint to Hoitsema. It read (if I'm translating this right), "As a subordinate, it is difficult to determine if all these interferences are specific requirements or if they are given to me with the freedom to put them aside."
Here's my only square coin. I guess it's technically only a token. I know it's a Kriegsgeld (war money) but haven't been able to find too much more info. Any additional info would be apprecited.
