1916 mercury dime

    i have a 1916 mercury dime that i had in a box of coins that grandma left to us all ,now the coin is worn pretty bad ,is any way of telling what mint a coin is from if that area is worn to much to see

    welcome to the forum!! :kewl:unfortunaly there is no way to restore dates/mintmarks on silver coins like we can do with nickels. maybe if you look at it with a loupe or a microscope you would be able to see a faint mintmark. or, post a picture on here and we could be able to help out.

    Man, the best advice I can gove ya is either look at it under high magnification, or post a pic and we can do our best to help you. Best of luck. :thumb:

    there may be die markers or other pick up points that can define certain dies and thus which mint it came from. i am not well versed in the merc series. i would submit it to anacs and see if they can detirmine the mint, imo it would be worth the modest submission fee.

    first let me thank you all everyone is so nice here i think it great ,anyway i did look with a 20x loup but still could not see anything but i am going to borrow a camera and get up a pic as i have a few other very old coins that i could use some advice on again thanks guys HAPPY HOLIDAYS
