I know that this is not a key date but I'd like to get an idea of its value. I don't know if it has been cleaned in the past but there is some tarnish? at the 10 to 11 o'clock points. Joe
The 1917 US COIN RED BOOK list MS 60-63 between $170.00 - $240.00 Just an estimate. Take it to a trusted coin shop or your coin club to be looked at, or you could have it graded by a third party grading service to certify grade. Hope this helps. You will get other opinions soon to.
Nice coin . . . don't worry about the tarnish. In this case it doesn't affect either the grade or the value of the coin.
Thanks for all the responses. I have a few different date SLQ's in similar condition as this one but I'm not sure if I should submit them for grading as they're not key dates.
It's certainly possible that it was cleaned. This coin has been in my possession since the early 1960's and my great uncle before that. Cleaning coins was pretty common back then. Joe
Very attractive to my eye, but my feeling is lightly cleaned long ago, and a bit of high point rub. Probably doesn't really pay to submit it, but I'd like more opinions.
