I've been stocking up on this DDO . It's Coneca DDO-001 . http://varietyvista.com/01e LC Doubled Dies Vol 5/2015PDDO001 cent.htm This DDO will be in the next CherryPickers Guide . It would of been in the last one, which came out at the end of 2015 . But, when it was just found, the book was already out . Here's a good article on this DDO . https://conecaonline.org/strong-2015-doubled-die-obv-1c-reported/ The 2014 Made the last CherryPickers Guide and comes with some nice prices too . http://www.pcgscoinfacts.com/Coin/Detail/569387 Here's the link to Ebay, where I just picked up 50 more . https://www.ebay.com/itm/2015-P-Cent-Doubled-Die-Obverse-WDDO-006-CONECA-DDO-001-50-Coins-CH-BU-Red/202182966779?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
If found about 6 in the change and bought the rest . The ones I've bought are running about 7 To 9 dollars a piece . I own over a 100 now ..
Well Kinda. The clerk at my local store trades me the fresh bank rolls for ones I roll myself. Just a few A week. It’s taking me a long time to just look through even one roll. Trying to learn it all at once about these pennies just taking my sweet time. Never would’ve found those two 2017’s I’m a trying get a picture of them right now. My camera really stinks but I haven’t found that one halfway decent COIN to buy me some new cameras
Rick, I've always wondered this, but do you know how the decision is made to add a coin to the Cherry Pickers Guide? Is it mostly based on the amount of doubling on a coin? Or just opinion of the authors? Because looking at the 2014 listings, I would assume that CONECA 2014 1c DDO-003, 3-O-VIII would have been included since it shows the same, if not stronger, doubling on the date and motto. Just wondering. Thanks.
John Wexler has quite a few listed for this year . http://doubleddie.com/2318537.html Go through them and see if you can match one up . I can help, once you go through John site . Then you'll know more on what to take images of .
Fivaz-Stanton are the big wigs of the book . Ken Potter is a Author and was involved in everyone, except for the last one . He was to busy fighting Cancer . You can contact them, or go on Collectors Universe forums https://forums.collectors.com/categories/u-s-coin-forum and there people over there that can help you get in contact with them .https://forums.collectors.com/profile/CaptHenway I see ken potter all the time . He lives in my side of town .
That is awesome. To have someone like him close by to be able to talk with and ask questions, with a coin probably in-hand, is a true blessing. Jealous! Thanks for the other info.
I spoke to JT Stanton many years ago about the decisions to add coins to the CPG. He explained that it would be pointless to add coins that are too scarce for collectors to find. Instead, they would list most new coins that were easily found. Of course, there are exceptions such as the 2005S KS Silver Proof, FS-901 Die Dent of which there are only 12 or so known to exist. Chris
Let me help with the doubling . This DDO has two classification . First Class #4 . http://doubleddie.com/203906.html Second Class #8 . http://doubleddie.com/203990.html Only 2015 has both classifications, for this series, so far ..
There's also Jim Motley and he's moving up the chain of commands . I sit with those two ( Which Make Up Coneca ) at all the local shows . It's a blast too ...
Here's the one I used . https://plugable.com/products/usb2-micro-250x/ Keep in mind I've been using a USB scope for 5 years now .. This is the image it take, if you used a USB scope, without using the program before you take the image . Here's the same image after I worked in the program of the scope, before I took the image . Keep in mind, none of these were used in my thread images, other then now .
I am not into this area of collecting (yet) so these come as honest questions: 1. If so many examples of the 2015 DDO (just for example) can be found, but can only be found with the use of a microscope, how widespread will this area become? 2. I just can’t see the OP’s coin as DDO. It looks like MD to me, flat and shelflike. What am I missing? 3. If there are die stages listed at Coneca, doesn’t that mean that what we’re seeing is die deterioration? Steve
Coneca only has three listed with this classification ( class 4 & class 8 ) . This one has the widest spread of the three . You also don't need a scope to see the doubling, on this DDO . or the other two, listed for this year ... 10x works fine ..
