Mint Error or Post Mint Error?

    Is this a mint error, or post mint damage? If it is an error, what would cause this?

    post mint damage, it looks like scratches.

    They're not scratches, the lines are raised up. I was thinking maybe another coin on top of it left an impression maybe? It almost looks like metal on top of the coin. Maybe someone melted metal on it?

    it looks to me to be incuse see how it goes right through the L in liberty. If it were raised it would go over the L but thats just my humble opinion. :D

    Sorry, but they ARE scratches.

    The scratched metal has to go somewhere
    when the object mades the depression in the
    coin's surface.

    In a scratched coin like yours, the metal that
    was scratched into the surface was raised by
    the object that caused the depression into the
    surface of the coin.

    I, as well as others, can assure you with 1,000%
    certainly that your coin is scratched.......

    Ok, thank you for looking and for responding. It's awesome that you respond to messages here. I've seen you on Youtube and actually purchased some coins from you years ago on Ebay. Much respect.
