Aside from a small stint as a child, I have about 3 months into the hobby. I bought a Morgan from a fellow locally and it may seem that the date is errored. The date seems to be dripping or melting down. Also if you look closely the 2 has a small crack in it. I just wanted someone's opinion. Thank you for your time and consideration. - z-

Not the best photos, but it looks like rim damage,
    from what I can see.

A better photo, lighter, and showing the entire
obverse of the coin, and the reverse area too,
    would be much more helpful.

    It's damaged on the rim.

    Saw your other thread,
and it's damaged on the rim.

    Not an error....

I believe you are referring to die erosion . . . if it is, you should see similar lines running radially from the stars to the rim as well.

I feel like I am looking at a fake Morgan

But that's just my opinion :angelic:

I don't see anything on the third and fourth images, the "dripping" of the date is due to a worn obv die with flowlines drawing the details toward the rim. The rim itself does appear to be damaged as Fred says.

Answered on the other thread, the "Dripping" is caused by a worn die.

I think he believes the 'smashed' area
below the date is an error, which it isn't.

The flow lines are normal for this date/mm
